  • Guests are responsible for bringing seasonally appropriate clothing and encouraged to bring a few outdoor gear items such as a water bottle, headlamp, daypack, and journal. • Peak Season: July - August. Summer in Maine is temperate. Temperatures will likely range between mid-70 to mid-80s during the day and can drop to the 50s at night. Most days will be sunny with mild humidity, and guests should plan for rain showers about once per week. When kayaking on the ocean, the wind often causes temperatures to feel significantly cooler.

Shoulder Season: May-June & September-October. Guests planning a vacation in early summer or early fall can expect cooler temperatures and slightly more rain, with day time highs averaging 60-70 degrees, nights in 40-50s, and rain 1-2 days per week.

  • We encourage guests to adventure through inclement weather if the conditions are judged safe. However, the choice is ultimately left to guests to decide if they prefer to shift their guided activity to another time block during their stay, including extending future days to 6-8 hour blocks of guided activity. Where this is not possible, guests may elect to receive a partial refund.

A note on kayaking: We enjoy getting out on the water as much as possible and look forward to sharing the experience with your family. However, kayaking is weather dependent and not guaranteed during a Foxwalk Adventure vacation. The judgment call will be at the sole discretion of Mike and Amanda based on water and air temperatures, wind and wave conditions, and precipitation. We will do our best to prioritize kayaking by planning for it on good weather days, and as such, itineraries are subject to change.

  • Ticks: When you spend time outdoors in the Northeast Lyme disease is a potential hazard. Prevention is the best medicine. We supply private areas and full-length mirrors for tick checks and recommend full body checks 2x times per day. You can read more about prevention tips on the State of Maine’s website.

We are happy to provide further education and answer questions prior to and/or upon arrival.

Mosquitos: Guests should expect mosquitos, particularly in the early mornings and evenings; however, bites can generally be prevented by wearing long sleeve clothing and bug repellent. Mosquitos tend to be more abundant in the early summer months (June – Mid July) and years with more rainfall.

  • Amanda or Mike will reach out within one week of submitting an online reservation form by your preferred contact method. We will work together (in one or multiple sessions) to curate your vacation stay, including duration, activities, and meals.

Guests are provided with a welcome packet including your customized itinerary, gear list, restaurant guide, health intake form, and liability waiver.
